Governor Christie has signed a bill which will double the penalties for texting and driving. Previously you received $100 penalty if you were convicted of texting and driving. Now for a first offense the fines will be between $200 to $400. For a second offense the fines will between $400 and $600 and for a third offense between $600 and $800. If you are convicted of a third offense for texting and driving, the Judge may in their discretion suspend your driving privileges and the Motor Vehicle Commission may assess your license up to three points.
