Nicholas served as an Associate Editor to the Rutgers Journal of Law and Public Policy, and Legal Writing Fellow. Nicholas was an attorney for the Rutgers Domestic Violence clinic where he won both trial and appellate cases for clients. He also participated in and served as a teaching assistant in the pretrial and trial advocacy courses.
In 2024, Nicholas received the Mary Philbrook Student Public Interest Award from Rutgers Law School for “outstanding achievement in the pursuit of social justice.” The award recognized his work on three different legislative initiatives, including drafting bills which, after being signed into law, expanded the scope of civil protections under the Prevention of Domestic Violence Act (“PVDA”) and Sexual Assault Survivor Protection Act (“SASPA”). Nicholas was also honored for his advocacy which led the New Jersey Supreme Court to remove a discriminatory question from the character and fitness questionnaire.
At graduation, Nicholas received two faculty awards from the law school faculty, one for Academic Achievement in Legal Writing and another for Academic Achievement in Dispute Resolution.
Prior to law school, Nicholas worked as the Public Information Officer for the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders (now Commissioners), Deputy Chief of Staff at the City of Trenton, and a Chief of Staff and Legislative Aide to a member of the New Jersey General Assembly.
