Nicholas is an Associate in the Moorestown, New Jersey law office Attorneys Hartman, Charted, and focuses his practice on employment discrimination, criminal defense, police disciplinary matters, and has expertise in domestic violence restraining orders and name change actions. Nicholas’s work spans all aspects of litigation, including client counseling, drafting pleadings, and assisting with discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
Prior to joining Attorneys Hartman, Nicholas served as a law clerk for the Honorable Jeanne T. Covert, Assignment Judge of the Burlington Vicinage. Nicholas drafted orders and opinions in actions in lieu of prerogative writ, Mount Laurel cases, condemnations, motions to transfer venue, municipal consolidation, and name change actions.
Nicholas served as an Associate Editor to the Rutgers Journal of Law and Public Policy, and Legal Writing Fellow. Nicholas was an attorney for the Rutgers Domestic Violence clinic where he won both trial and appellate cases for clients. He also participated in and served as a teaching assistant in the pretrial and trial advocacy courses.
Nicholas received two faculty awards, for Academic Achievement in Legal Writing and Academic Achievement in Dispute Resolution. He was honored for his legislative advocacy work which refined the New Jersey law to enhance protection of victims of domestic violence suffering stalking and cyber harassment, as well as advocacy which led the State Bar Association to remove a discriminatory question from the character and fitness questionnaire.
Prior to law school, Nicholas worked as the Public Information Officer for the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders (now Commissioners), Deputy Chief of Staff at the City of Trenton, and a Chief of Staff and Legislative Aide to a member of the New Jersey General Assembly.
